10 Best Reasons To Love Fall
After last winter, the first signs of fall may be met with preemptive dread. You know what I’m talking about. But we prefer to focus on everything we love about fall for now. Because we’re living in the moment and that doesn’t include snow and ice. 1. Fall foliage. What everyone thinks of when they think of fall. And for good reason. Hop online and search for fall foliage tours near you or take a weekend trip to enjoy. 2. Nights are cooler. Which is nice after a lot of humidity and running the air 24/7. Leave your windows open, light a fire, have a bonfire or throw on a sweatshirt and take a walk with someone. 3. Pumpkin anything. Pumpkin bread, pancakes, seeds, muffins, scones, pie, lattes, oh my! 4. Halloween. We haven’t outgrown this holiday, have you? Kids can help you rediscover the joy in dressing up and decorating with pumpkins, gourds, pretty fall mums and marigolds. Plus there are so many fun Halloween decorations, including pumpkin carving. And if you still can’t get into it, you can always sneak some of your kids’ candy. 5. Our favorite shows are back. They’ve upped the ante on television series. Well-known actors, writers, producers and amazing scripts are finding their way onto the small screen, giving us so many options. Especially with streaming and on-demand services. 6. Which means our favorite blankets and throws are, too. You may have a favorite (we do) or you may be on the hunt for Mr. Right. Real Simple gave us this list of cuddle-worthy throws. And if you’re the crafty type, you can always buy your own fleece and sew something cozy or you can even try this no-sew method from Pinterest. 7. You have a new wardrobe. Kind of. You haven’t worn most of these clothes for at least 4 months or more, so they almost seem new. At the risk of sounding shallow, new clothes can kind of make our day. 8. Swimsuit season is over. Enough said. 9. Apple anything. See #3 and add apple cider and caramel apples. A tip: start with our favorite apple variety, the tart McIntosh. 10. Football. Cheering for the home team (or your Fantasy team) is a lot of fun. Throw in some Wise chips and the favorite blanket you found (see #6) and you’re in business. But for those of you who’d prefer to skip the gridiron, hit the mall, movie theater or your favorite local restaurant while everyone else is watching the game. It will be much less crowded, so really everyone wins.
